SYDNEY FRINGE’S MISSION

Innovating, re-imagining and invigorating Sydney’s art and theatre landscape.

“The Sydney Fringe Festival ignites Sydney in ways that push the boundaries of what is possible and work year-round with our partners to think outside the box and find lasting solutions to enable more cultural spaces to open, and existing spaces to flourish. We activate unused and under-utilised space, creating pop-up and temporary venues to transform the cityscape for audiences to explore something truly unique each September. Now more than ever Sydney needs its Fringe Festival, and Sydney Fringe is primed to present the innovative, dynamic and nimble activity required to reactivate our city.”

2022 Partnership Highlights

Babylon
Kensington Street

Since 2017 Sydney Fringe has been partnering with Kensington Street to bring extraordinary, one-of-a-kind street parties. From dusk til late, Babylon enveloped Spice Alley with over 50 performers and creatives who brought the vision to life. Over 5,000 people attended, meeting our partner’s KPIs to attract new audiences, align their brand with innovative experiences and increase food and beverage spend.

Best Served Loud
AMP & Young Henry's

We brought together local Sydney legends, Young Henry’s and AMP to curate an epic Best Served Loud series that showcased the best of Sydney’s live music talent at the inner-west icon, Marrickville Metro. The free, outdoor event was set up between the new and original sides of the Metro and was an unmissable weekend of live-music, cinema and comedy. With over 2000 attendees, our partners goals were met through curated local content to a targeted demographic and increased footfall.

Bounce Into Our World
World Square

At the ever-vibrant World Square, visitors were greeted by eye-catching Live in Colour Artwork from Its Beautiful and Useful Studio, World Square and our Cultural Concierge Program. Our amazing ambassadors set up shop at the shopping centre to showcase to crowds the vibrancy of Fringe and assist people in imagining what their Fringe journey could be. The activation delivered its goal to position World Square as a unique, vibrant and exciting Spring destination.

Fringe Kid's Day
Darling Quarter

With the support of Darling Quarter, we put on a massive day of fun for under 12s to kick off our Fringe Kids program. With circus, parkour, and workshops, the event was free to the public and hosted by Monica Trapaga (Playschool). The activation achieved our partner’s goal to position Darling Quarter as a vibrant, fun destination for youth and young adults.

Acoustic Rituals
George Place

We transformed the majestic foyer space with a morning acoustic concert series featuring acoustic music in all its glory every Thursday morning during September. These free concerts were open to the public and live-streamed to reach digital audiences, achieving our partner’s goal of providing its tenants with a unique pre-work experience.

Fringeville
Georges River Council

For one night only, Fringeville took over Hurstville Plaza to give the fine folk of South Western Sydney a feast of Fringe. Supported by Georges River Council for a second year, Fringeville provided a free comedy bus programmed by ‘A Laugh and A Half’, and a full evening of roaming street performances presented by Culture Beat Collective, plus ticketed performances in the Hurstville Entertainment Centre across the weekend.

Fringe Ignite
Place Management NSW

In partnership with PMNSW our annual opening event FRINGE IGNITE took to the streets of The Rocks precinct. With a focus on emerging talent, the free public event featured 22 acts across 7 stages. Traversing through alleyways and in secret coves, bar and restaurant.

TESTIMONIALS

Greg Hall

Marketing Manager Young Henrys

“Sydney Fringe 2019 was one for the ages, bigger, better and decadent-er than ever before! As humble Sydneysiders, we were proud and privileged to be associated with such a fun, inclusive and progressive festival that helps make up the beating heart of arts and culture in our city.”

Marcus Chang

Executive Director Kensington Street Holdings

“Since 2017, Kensington Street has been a strategic and presenting partner of the Sydney Fringe Festival. Providing in-kind and financial investment to Fringe to activate our dining precinct. The economic benefit that comes from the annual partnership is a contributing factor to our investment as we see continued growth each year. Equally important is the cohesion of the community, and brand awareness that participating in the festival brings. We work with Fringe to produce large-scale free-to-the-public events. These activations attract between 5000-7000 people and are a key economic driver for our 35+ businesses.”
