The Tale of the Wolf

The Tale of the Wolf

$36.00

28 - 30 Sep | 50 minutes Meraki Arts Bar - Meraki Mainstage
SHOW IS RATED: PG

Fictional autobiography of a woman - half wolf, set within a fictional history of wolves in Australia, weaves comic domestic anecdotes with Angela Carter stories through physical theatre and storytelling.

The performance works through the body to dispel the shadows that lie between the leaves of stories we tell. The performance is a darkly twisted tale that seeks to reconcile us with our own natures. The performance speaks back to psychoanalysis from the point of view of an animal, restoring the wolf to its place in mythology as a figure of transformation.

The Tale of the Wolf was first developed in residency with Odin Teatret in 2017, supported by the Inner West Council’s Edge Spaces program in collaboration with Lucy Watson (Mads Clove) and presented as a work in progress at Teatr Brama’s Human Mosaic festival (Goleniow, Poland 2018).

World premiere at Sydney Fringe Festival in 2023.
