A one-on-one performance embodying the beauty of human connection and the power of shared moments. An empathy-driven testament to community, created as an antidote to recent isolating, distancing times.
A new one-on-one performance from Lewis Major that embodies the beauty of human connection and the power of shared moments. In the gentle embrace of solitude, Lien emerges as a testament to community and empathy, born as an antidote to the distancing and isolation that has shaped our recent history. In this intimate exchange, one audience member and one dancer come together on an otherwise empty stage for a singular ten-minute encounter that will never be repeated. The dancer crafts a spontaneous performance guided by the tender conversation that unfolds between two souls in the preceding moments; a gift to the audience member and a performance that no one else will ever witness. In this exchange, the identities of both artist and patron are concealed until the moment of connection, creating a "blind date" experience that heightens the vulnerability, connection and wonder of the moment.Inspired by the solemn yet joyous Jewish seder, Lien reimagines shared performance as a deeply personal, spiritual event. ***** Winner of the Weekly Best Dance Award and The Sydney Fringe Tour Ready Award at Adelaide Fringe 2023
